Diversifying The Curriculum
-
With these performances, Seala Fubar highlights that the writings of radical academics are not just material for essays, but a set of directives for making change.
Diversifying the Curriculum intervenes in the role of the university and its power to turn radical ideas into essay topics. It also questions behind-the-paywall learning by creating accessible encounters with critical theorists.
Each performance lasts the length of a university lecture (1–2 hours). They are public and typically take place in busy places. The signs are made from cardboard or wood, felt-tip pens, and paint.
Diversifying the Curriculum is a multi-year piece and is ongoing. The first performance took place in 2023, and Seala Fubar will continue to stage them for years to come. A highlight was the Silvia Federici piece performed on Victoria Street during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2024.
